Runaway Cow Winery Resort Phase Two

Phase Two of the project is a new extension to an existing winemaking facility, which includes accommodations, a visitor center, and an adjoining tasting room, established in 2010 by Runaway Cow. Tucked into a hillside in Qiu Shan Valley, Shandong Province, the design of this latest winery in the Runaway Cow Estates fosters an intimate relationship between the site’s topography and the new gravity-flow winery. Our goal was to create a building that celebrates the stunning landscape, focusing on vineyard views and making the surroundings the primary protagonist in the design. In its distant effect, the project aims to integrate itself into the cultivated cultural landscape of Qiu Shan Valley. We aimed to seamlessly blend the structure with its environment while creating a welcoming space for visitors and wine enthusiasts. Elements of industrial architecture emphasize the functional nature of the premises, while the characteristics of wine as a natural product are expressed in a simplified yet charming manner.
